Where's
Westie?

On Sept. 6, 2025, we released the three-year old loggerhead sea turtle "Westie" out into the ocean. Westie is the first TIMSC marine debris ambassador to be equipped with a tracker, thanks to local environmental organization Save Sea Life.

Each week we’ll check in on Westie’s latest travels and see what corners of the ocean she’s exploring. Since there’s no live tracker link, this will be your behind-the-scenes pass to follow her adventures!

Whereabouts

The location data from the tracker is received by a satellite passing over Westie as she surfaces for a breath of air. Just so everyone is on the same page, Westie does come up to the surface of the water far more often then the data points shown, but these are the times that a satellite is over her at the exact moment of her surfacing!

Oh, Westie...she's either zooming up and down the coast or sticking around in one spot!

It's pretty clear she knows what she wants and is willing to go long distances to find it...The past couple of weeks she has been lingering around in the same general location, which means she has found a great, safe, spot full of good food and good vibes. Thanks for following along with Westie's adventures with us—we've learned so much and hope you have, too!
