Bring your group for an island ecology experience on Tybee Island!
Groups have their choice of either a one-hour beach ecology walk OR marsh ecology walk, and a 30-minute sand sifting OR seining activity. 30-minute guided gallery tour with marine science educator is also included.
- Beach ecology walk: One-hour beach walk, departing from the Marine Science Center, follows the beach south to the jetties.
- Marsh ecology walk: One-hour marsh walk, trek through the maritime forest and in to the salt marsh, OFF-SITE location (about 3 miles away).
- Seining: Scouts will be in waist-deep water pulling a ten-foot net with their educator to catch fish, jellies, and other animals (no swimming).
- Sand sifting: Designed for younger participants (2nd grade or younger) or inclement weather. Scouts are in ankle-deep water and sift through the sand to find creatures like amphipods, mole crabs, and coquinas.
