The science center has two wings: The West Gallery houses our live animal exhibits, and the East Gallery offers fossil exploration and interactive installations that educate about our conservations and research efforts.
Our live animal exhibits feature species native to the coastal Georgia barrier islands. Our catch-and-release program collects local species through our educational programs and ensures a short stay in captivity before release back into the wild.
The two loggerhead sea turtles on exhibit are stragglers that are rescued from local nests. These Marine Debris Ambassadors are raised at the science center for three years until release at a larger size, increasing their chances of survival in nature.
