The Sand Bar – DANGER!

The sand bar on the south end of the island has claimed two lives due to drowning in the 2009 season.

DO NOT WALK OUT ON THE SAND BAR!

It’s very appealing and looks deceptively easy to walk on and explore, however, the tides are extremely fast and can take out a strong, adult swimmer within just a few minutes.

PLEASE, for your safety and the safety of the lifeguards who will try to rescue you, do NOT venture out on the sand bar at all.

Again, going out on the sand bar is extremely dangerous.
