UPCOMING PRE-K-K Age 4 and up

Mini Beach Explorers Young campers are introduced to many sea creatures as they make friends and have fun! Campers will hit the beach to learn about sea shells, sand and stones. Learn about “fintastic” fish, touch amazing creatures that live under the sea, and design a home for a hermit crab. June 14, 16, 18 (MWF) from 10–11:30

Ocean Commotion Discover the wild world of the ocean through fun investigations and activities. Take an exciting journey along the seashore. Sift through the soft Tybee sand and visit undersea homes. Learn how different ocean animals move and survive in the ocean. Explore the commotion of the ocean! July 5, 7, 9 (MWF) from 10–11:30

Coastal Critters Young campers learn about some of the most popular animals along our coast. Based on the Suzanne Tate Nature Series, Coastal Critters will focus on Flossie Flounder, Crabby, Jenny Jellyfish, and Oozey Octopus. Activities include beach walks, seining, sand sifting, and more! July 19, 21, 23 (MWF) from 2:30–4:00

Sea Squirts Sea squirts have oceans of fun as they discover the wonders of the beach, learn about camouflage and how animals protect themselves. Gain knowledge about the animals that live in coastal Georgia by reading stories, taking beach walks, sand sifting, and exploring the touch tank. August 2,4,6 (MWF) from 10–11:30


UPCOMING GRADES 1 and 2

A Hidden Universe Discover the world through a microscope! Have you ever really seen seaweed? Looked plankton in the “eye”? Encountered a part of the Georgia Mountains on our own Tybee beach? Visited a whelk shell’s nursery? Get an “up close and personal” view of this hidden universe! June 21-24 (M-Th) from 10–12:30

Peanut Butter and Jellyfish Take a peep into the deep! Learn about all types of fish and their body parts. Find out what arthropods inhabit the seas. Discover what you can do to help loggerhead sea turtles. Learn to identify shells and the animals that live in the salt marsh. July 5-8 (M-Th) from 2–4:30

Sea-sational Science Strengthen your science skills as you explore the life cycles of the plants and animals of the sea. Understand how animals are perfectly adapted to live in the marine environment. Learn about the needs of seaweed, fish, crabs, and birds. July 19-22 (M-Th) from 10–12:30

Sea Camp Junior Learn about animals such as crabs, fish, soda straw worms, and coquina clams by exploring the sand and surf of Tybee. Discover ocean habitats, food chains, counter-shading, camouflage, and other animal defenses by engaging in hands-on field studies and experiments. July 26–29 (M-Th) from 10–12:30


UPCOMING GRADES 3 and 4

Wacky World of Invertebrates How does a sand dollar eat? Is a sea cucumber a vegetable? Is “sea pork” like bacon? How are sea jellies able to move without bones or muscles? And why is it so hard to open an oyster? Get the “inside scoop” on the wacky world of invertebrates. (Class includes dissections which will be strictly voluntary.) June 21-24 (M-Th) from 2–4:30

Water Wonders Explore the wonderful world of water in the classroom and on the beach. Learn about the importance of water and the animals that live beneath the waves. Activities include exploring the beach and participating in the “Water Olympics.” June 28–July 1 (M-Th) from 2–4:30

Coastal Adventure Join us where the land meets the sea for a fun-filled coastal adventure! Investigate incredible animals, come face to face with hungry predators, and uncover who’s living beneath the sand. Explore the coastal food web and learn how animals survive the challenges of the seashore. July 12–15 (M-Th) from 10–12:30


UPCOMING GRADES 5 and 6

Marine Quest Explore the ocean world in this fun, interactive class. Become an ocean scientist and examine the coastal waters. Go behind the scenes of our aquarium. Hike along Tybee’s shore in search of sea life, shells, teeth, and more. Understand how the ocean is more than meets the eye. June 28–July 1 (M-Th) from 10–12:30

Sea Turtle Investigation From hatchling to adult, the loggerhead sea turtle increases its weight 6,000 times! Learn how a tiny hatchling grows to be a 300 pound adult and then returns to Tybee beach to nest. Campers will explore the beach for sea turtle nests as they investigate the life cycle of sea turtles. July 12-15 (M-Th) from 2–4:30
